Past 10 years IIT Jee advanced AIR 1 toppers info

It’d be interesting to know about the whereabouts of previous years’ JEE AIR 1’s. So, here is a list I compiled from info available at my disposal

2000 - Nitin Gupta

Nitin Gupta pursued his BTech in Computer Science from IIT K. He later went on to pursue his interest in biology and completed his PhD in Bioinformatics from UCSD. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the BSBE Department at his alma mater, IIT K.

2001 - Arvind Thiagarajan

Arvind Thiagarajan completed his BTech from IIT Madras and PhD from MIT, both in Computer Science. He worked a research scientist at Amazon and currently works at Twitter.

Fun fact : He has a whopping 42 patents to his name and had also founded a mobile computing company!

2002 - Dungara Choudhary

He completed his BTech in Computer Science from IIT K, and went on to work for AirTight Networks. Currently, he works at Oracle

2003 - Shashank S. Dwivedi

Shashank Dwivedi did his BTech in Electrical Engg from IIT B, after which he attended MIT. There are no available info about his current wherabouts

Edit : Sugandha Agarwal points out that Shashank now works at Deutsche Bank, Mumbai.

2004 - Sushant Sachdeva

Not only did Sushant top IIT JEE, he also scored a perfect 10 in 7/8 semesters, while doing his BTech in Computer Science at IIT B. He was awarded the President’s Medal for academic excellence. He went on to do his Masters from Princeton and currently works as a post-doctoral associate at Yale

2005 - Piyush Srivastava

After topping the coveted exam at a mere 17 years of age, Piyush studied Computer Science at IIT K and also won the President’s Gold Medal. He then did his Masters from UCB. Currently, he is a PhD Scholar at Caltech.

Fun Fact : Piyush also topped AIEEE in 2005. As if topping JEE was not enough of an achievement…

2006 - Raghu Mahajan

Raghu was one of the few to take a serious detour after topping IIT JEE. After 2 years at IIT Delhi, he went to MIT to pursue theoretical Physics. He also double-majored in Mathematics. Following this, he did his Masters from Cambridge and is currently a PhD Scholar at Stanford.

4. His CGPA in his 2 years at IIT Delhi…yes, you guessed it correct..10.0/10.0

2007 - Achin Bansal

Achin did his BTech in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. Upon graduating, he joined Morgan Stanley, where he now works as a Treasury Strategist

2008 - Shitikanth Kashyap

Shitikant pursued his BTech in Computer Science at IIT Kanpur. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in University of Waterloo.

2009 - Nitin Jain

Like Piyush, Nitin also topped IIT-JEE as well as AIEEE in the same year. He studied at IIT Delhi and currently lives in Dublin, though, not a lot of info is available about his recent endeavours. He did get a job offer from Twitter during campus placements though

2010 - Anumula Jithendar Reddy

He completed his BTech in electronics and communication from IIT Bombay. Last available info about him is that he is pursuing Masters at Caltech.

As is evident from the above compilation, all these guys have been upto cool and challenging things. Their endeavours post-IIT are a reflection of their mostly research-oriented mindset, justifying them getting the ‘JEE Topper’ badge!

P.S. The list is limited till JEE 2010, as most toppers beyond this are either still in college or just started their careers!
